Is handheld screen-time impacting speech development in preschoolers?

This article shares new research on speech development in preschoolers and how it might be impacted by the amount of time a child spends on handheld devices. The arrival of iPads, smartphones and other touchpad devices has meant that young toddlers are able to interact with screens at an early age, with great success. However, how does this time spent interacting with screens impact their development in other areas, like speech and social skills? Looking forward to learning about more research in this area.
